Karl Bearnarth

Airline pilot, flight instructor, and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner committed to professionalism, applicant preparation, and standards-based practical testing.

Karl Bearnarth’s passion for aviation began long before he ever stepped into a cockpit. As a child, he and a friend would ride their bicycles to the local airport nearly every weekend just to watch airplanes take off and land. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong commitment to aviation that would eventually lead to a professional career as both an airline pilot and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner.

Karl began flying in 2000 and quickly dedicated himself to advancing through every stage of pilot training. He earned his instrument rating in 2002, followed by his commercial pilot certificate in 2008, and became a Certified Flight Instructor in 2009. Over the years, he built extensive experience training pilots across multiple certificate and rating levels while developing a reputation for professionalism, strong standards, and practical instruction.

In 2017, Karl transitioned to a full-time airline career, combining his instructional background with advanced operational experience in turbine aircraft. He currently holds type ratings in the Embraer E170/190 series and the Airbus A320 family.

Karl’s aviation credentials include Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII), Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI), Airline Transport Pilot (ATP), Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI), and Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI). He is also an active FAASTeam Volunteer, a Gold Seal Flight Instructor, and was recognized as Flight Instructor of the Year by the Allentown FSDO.

As an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner, Karl is committed to conducting fair, professional, and standards-based practical tests while helping applicants approach the checkride process with confidence, preparation, and professionalism.
